Ideas for Painting your Bathroom Oasis

When thinking about decorating and painting the house, many people brush past the bathroom since this is the room of the house that is the smallest, most utilitarian, and least inviting. However, that doesn’t have to be the case.

With the right painting and decorating ideas, you can turn your bathroom into a relaxing oasis where you go to melt away the stresses of the day or your very own in-house spa. Here are some painting ideas to make that possible.

Paint Lavender Walls

Pastel floral colors add a gentle, natural touch to any space where they’re used. When you paint your bathroom this soft color, you create the feeling that you are in a luscious garden, not a small bathroom. Plus, the lightness of the lavender color means that you will not be overwhelming the small space with an overpowering shade, which can happen with some darker colors.

Pale Blue

Is there anything more relaxing than the sea? The smell of the salty water, the feeling of waves at your feet, and the sound of surf crashing against the shore combine to create one of the most relaxing feelings. No wonder people crave seaside vacations or put on seaside noises in the spa.

You don’t have to go to the ocean to create your oceanside oasis—just paint your bathroom walls a relaxing pale blue color. The light shade makes the space feel open and airy, while the blue will make you feel as if you are in an underwater utopia. Accent the wall color with ocean-like details such as shells, sea glass, and a lighthouse-printed shower curtain.

Pistachio Green

If you don’t like the ocean, maybe you can make a forest-like oasis in your bathroom with a light green color such as sage or pistachio. Cooling colors create a relaxing feeling, especially when they are on the paler side of the spectrum.

If you don’t want to paint your walls pistachio green, you can always keep your walls neutral and paint your elements, such as the vanity and trim.

Navy Blue

Most people keep bathrooms light colors or neutral tones to keep the atmosphere airy and relaxing. However, dark, rich colors such as navy blue can also contribute to the feeling of an oasis. The warm, enveloping shades of navy blue and similar shades such as chocolate and dark grey make your bathroom feel like a warm, inviting place to be. The striking nature of this shade also makes the bathroom feel like a place for a special occasion or a retreat from the “real world.”

Accentuate the richness of the navy blue wall color with crisp trim and simple decoration. A simple touch will really let the walls shine and add a soothing atmosphere.

You can always paint your bathroom the same white, eggshell, and cream shades that so many bathrooms have these days. However, painting it a striking shade turns it into your oasis, not just another room in the house.
